Bridging knowledges for science with impact in the Amazon – Nordic-Brazilian dialogue

The Nordic-Brazilian Amazon research dialogue was launched in May 2025. The dialogue aims to promote responsible, inclusive and impactful research and innovation in the Amazon. The focus is on responsible and inclusive cooperation and co-creation of transdisciplinary knowledge between diverse research areas and local stakeholders, including Indigenous Peoples, Quilombolas and Traditional Communities. The dialogue involves and targets funding institutions and researchers of the Amazon from Brazil and the Nordic countries, representing diverse research areas related to climate, environment and sustainable development.

This Nordic-Brazilian initiative is a collaboration between the Consulate of Finland in São Paulo, Embassies of Norway and Sweden in Brasília, the Amazonia+10 initiative, the Research and Innovation Council of São Paulo, FAPESP, and the Research and Innovation Council of Amazonas, FAPEAM. The activities have enjoyed funding from the Nordic Council of Minister’s Nordic Embassy Cooperation programme (NEP).
